New Delhi: On Wednesday, a 25-year-old man has been booked for allegedly posting objectionable morphed images of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and circulating it on WhatsApp messenger, the police said. The man hails from Bhayander. A Vishwa Hindu Parishad(VHP) activist – Vinod Shinde filed a complaint against him. An offense was registered against the accused in the Bhayander Police station.
The accused has been booked under IPC section 153 (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc).
As per the statement of a police officer from Bhayander police station, between October 10 and October 13, the accused had sent the morphed images of the PM Modi on WhatsApp messenger to the complainant.
The police said that the accused has also been booked under IPC sections 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation) and added that no arrest was made in connection with the incident.
