A Woman Asked To Beg For A Week, To Take Dip in Ganga :- The local panchayat reportedly asked an elderly woman to beg for a week outside of her village. She also asked to take a dip in the Ganga as penance for the “sin” of incidentally killing a calf. The unpleasant incident took place on the last Friday.

As per reports, a widow, name, Mrs. Kamleshi Devi (60), she lives in the Sriwas Nagar, when she was trying to pull the calf from a cow but the rope around its neck tightened, which is consequences in death for the calf, corporate Mukesh Garg stated.

Village Orders Woman To Beg For A Week

Mrs. Kamleshi Devi was a member of the Sriwas community, and then there was the holding of a panchayat on Saturday and the local Panchayat asked her to beg outside her village for seven days which is her only way to have penance.

Garg further stated that the local panchayat asked the woman, who is a widow, to take a dip in the Ganga and serve food to girls as per reports.

Devi unable to bear this shocked after hearing the statement of Panchayat she just went unconscious and fainted there with the order as well as she is now hospitalized.

District hospital superintendent Dr. Ajit Mishra told that the woman underwent treatment in the hospital.

Mr. Anil Sriwas, a son of the woman stated that accidentally his mother committed a “mistake”. So now the local panchayat is only following the custom, tradition, and religion.

Mr. Kushwaha the S. P. of the Madhya Pradesh police team stated that no one till now reached police station with a complaint. “I came to know about the incident through the media. Regarding this issue we have not received any complaint,” he said.

District collector Ilayaraja T said he will look into the matter.

Garg stated that local panchayat’s order was “inhumane and illegal”.

“In today’s era, such diktats are not justified. Police should take action,” the corporate further added.
