Aankhen 2 launched with a peal of trumpets at an event in Mumbai on Wednesday night. At the event, Amitabh Bachchan and Arshad Warsi also announced that they are playing the pivotal roles in the film, directed by Anees Bazmee. Gaurang Doshi the maker of the film stated that actress Ileana D’Cruz, who was not in the attendance at the event, is the female lead in the film. A video introducing the Rustom actress was released at the event’s evening.
The story behind this is, when Ileana was approached for the film, she refused it. And thereafter the statement was made without letting her know which created a blunder and makes the actress irked.
A source close to the venture stated that,
“For years now, people have stopped having lavish events to announce films. The only reason to have one is for the producer to rake in money. When a maker announces a film with a big star cast, he can impress investors to part with moolah. It’s just a money game, then whether the film gets made or not, the producer has got his hands on enough money.”
Although, no one states the name of the cast introduced. Says a source, “Gaurang unveils a video that has Ileana as the lead female in the film at the teaser launch event yesterday and which clearly states that she was doing the film also he claimed the same. Senior Bachchan further confirmed the news. But the truth is, she is not going to do the film at all and the video release has made her turbulent. She was unaware of the fact till then some of the well-wishers approached for congratulating her for the film. Now she is determined to file a lawsuit against the maker of the film, Gaurang. ”
Ileana’s manager confirms. “Ileana is not doing the film.” Gaurang remained unavailable for comment.
Aankhen 2 also starrs Amitabh, Anil Kapoor, Arjun Rampal and Arshad Warsi as shown in the video at the event. The story revolves around three blind men who befooled the world to make money. The movie is slated to be released at the end of this year.
