Actor Ali Fazal has been occupied as the male lead to star with Academy Award-winning actress Judi Dench in Hollywood project that is titled as Victoria And Abdul.
Ali, who has done a cameo role in Fast & Furious 7, roped in as for the role of Abdul Karim, the youthful servant from India who became an extraordinary confidant and mentor to Queen Victoria (Judi Dench).
The film is to be directed by Stephen Frears, who is well-known for films like Philomena and The Queen, from a screenplay penned by Lee Hall. And Ali is anticipated to start rolling in with Judi.
Ali said in a statement:-
“I can’t wait to take on Judi. She is the cherry on this wonderful pudding. The most loved woman in Britain and probably the world. It was a process of endless auditions and readings and conversations and today I am so glad that they grilled fully into it to a point of no return. I am ecstatic and I guess it hasn’t really sunk in. So I will take a bow when I finish my work on the film. The fun has just begun,”.
The movie is plotted on Shrabani Basu’s novel “Victoria & Abdul: The real tale of the Queen’s Closet friend”, telling the unusual real story of an unexpected bond in the next few years of Queen Victoria’s prolonged dominion.
Ali, who is waiting for his recent project to the release, Happy Bhag Jayegi, added:
“It doesn’t get better. I have known about this beautiful story for ages and never thought I would be destined to play out this character. Frears is one of my all time favourite directors.”
The film is being produced under the banner of Working Title Films and will be distributed across the world by Focus Entertainment which is a division unit of NBC Universal.
