CPT likely to be Scrap foundation Course Common Proficiency Test (CPT), which is compulsory for appearing the chartered accountancy course, is likely to be scraped. A foundation course will be proposed instead of CPT. This is declared by M. Devaraja Reddy, President, Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) on Friday in Kolkata.

While the CPT examinations was conducted for 200 marks, the proposed foundation course will be of 400 marks who cleared higher secondary examination.
However, the final decision will be taken after the government decision and the proposed foundation course would be conducted from November this year.
He confirmed that the proposal has been cleared by Ministry of Corporate Affairs and forwarded to Ministry of Law and Justice.
However, those candidates who passed B.Com with 55 %, B.Sc and engineering candidates with 60% marks can join CA course directly.
