Chikungunya Death: Toll Mounts To 5 While CM & Ministers Of Delhi Out Of Station :- Chikungunya is spreading in Delhi and other cities across the country. In last two day, 5 people lost their life due to the vector borne disease – Chikungunya in National Capital. In the national capital, the number of cases of Chikungunya have raised to more than 1,000.
Yesterday, Prakash Kalra(75) of Mathura died of the disease at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Delhi, others 3 men lost their life yesterday. The hospital authorities said that Kalra was brought to our hospital in a very critical stage of disease, having suffered kidney failure. He was admitted in the ICU yesterday and his chikungunya RT-PCR test had come positive.
Officials said that Death of a girl aged 22-year-old from chikungunya at the Hindu Rao Hospital, Delhi was also reported today. She had died on 1st September 2016.
As per the report of National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme(NVBDCP) – around 12,255 cases of chikungunya have been reported across the country till 31st August 2016. Karnataka state has alone recorded 8,941 cases, Maharashtra 839 cases and Andhra Pradesh 492 cases of Chikungunya.
Doctors say that in general, Chikungunya is not a life-threatening disease, but in rare cases that prove fatal, especially in children and old persons.
People of Delhi are dying due to the Chikungunya disease, but the all major minister of Delhi is out of station. Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal is in Bengaluru for the throat surgery for 10 days. Deputy chief minister of Delhi Manish Sisodiya is travelling in Finland nowadays.
The Health Minster of Delhi Satyendra Kumar Jain is in Goa right now for the camping of the party. There are more minister of the Delhi government is out of station. The LG Najeeb Jung is also travelling in USA these days.
CM of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal said that we are not responsible for the disease and also said that we can not do anything in Delhi because all the power of Delhi is hold by the LG and Central Government.
As per the report which is released yesterday by the South Delhi Municipal Corporation that around 1,057 cases of Chikungunya have been recorded till 10th September. Former South Delhi mayor – Subhash Arya said that People should not panic as the situation was still under control.
Arya said that Fogging is being done in South Delhi areas. We have already pressed 12 mobile fever vans in south Delhi and now we are planning to run them in two shifts instead of just one. Leaves of all health personnel have been cancelled from August onward.
A senior civic official said that the Mayor of North Delhi Sanjeev Nayyar is out of country while South Delhi Mayor Shyam Sharma is out of Delhi.
Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain told media that There is no death due to chikungunya in Delhi, but media is showing deaths due to this disease. I want to make it clear that chikungunya is not fatal. There are 200 deaths in Delhi every day, but nobody asks about it.
Jain had also accused the LG of paralysing the health system in Delhi.
