Deputy Chief Minister: 723 People killed Due To Heatwave In Andhra Pradesh :- Deputy CM of Andhra Pradesh – N China Rajappa has said that 723 people died of heat wave in Andhra Pradesh in the last four months. This was the first time this season that the state government officially announced the death caused by heat wave.
Home and Disaster Management and Deputy Chief Minister in a replying to a question raised by Telugu Desam member Modugula Venugopala Reddy and others in the Assembly today, said that the highest number of heat wave deaths were reported in Chittoor district. 238 heatwave deaths were reported in Chittoor district. At second number, 134 deaths in East Godavari and 115 deaths in Vizianagaram.
Rajappa said that 1369 deaths were reported last year due to the heat wave in the state. The death toll was 861 in the year 2013 and 448 in 2014 due to the heat wave.
He added that a heat wave action plan was adopted and being implemented in three phases from January. The government has undertaken an extensive awareness campaign on the precautionary measures to be followed by people.
Most parts of the country sweltered under a blazing sun this summer with heat wave claiming dozens of lives in neighbouring state like Odisha and Telangana too.
