North Atlantic Treaty Organisation(NATO) said that early in the morning on Saturday, a massive explosion struck the largest US military base in Afghanistan, killing 3 persons and injured 13 others.

In a brief statement, military coalition said that we can confirm that there was an explosion at Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan this morning after 5:30 am. There have been casualties and major damage to the airfield.
Without offering any other details, it further added that our Force Protection and medical teams are responding to the situation.
Bagram Airfield is the largest US military base near Kabul, Afghanistan. Bagram Airfield has frequently come under attack by Taliban insurgents.
The explosion underscores a worsening security situation nearly two years after NATO formally ended its combat operations in Afghanistan.
In the month of December in last year, a motorcycle-riding Taliban suicide bomber killed six US soldiers near largest US military airbase, Afghanistan.
It was one of the deadliest attacks on foreign troops in the country in 2015.
