Grand Welcome for Rio 2016 Bronze-Medalist winner Sakshi Malik

Sakshi Malik who won the Bronze Medal in Wrestling at Rio Olympics has received a grand Welcome in the New Delhi on August 24, 2016.

Sakshi Malik has been inked in the history book as she became the first woman to win the bronze medal in wrestling at Olympics. And her welcome was expected to be grand. According to the reports, few leaders of the Bhartiya Janta Party of Haryana were present at the airport to welcome her.

Also, numbers of the crowd are gathered at the Delhi-Haryana border to witness this presence of this champion. Anil Vij, the Haryana, and Sports minister received Sakshi Malik at the Indira Gandhi International Airport. Also, the preparation in the housing reception is underway at her village Mothra Khas in Rohtak district.

Meanwhile, the 23-year-old Sakshi Malik told the media wing that ” it was my dream of winning the medal at Olympics. Since my childhood, I have dreamed of winning the medal and it finally happened at Rio.”

She also gave credit to the wrestlers like Sushil Kumar, Geeta Phogat, and  Yogeshwar Dutt. She added that ”  It was an inspiration for me when Geeta Phogat qualified for the Olympics and become the first Indian woman to qualify for the wrestling in Olympics. Also, the duo of Sushil Kumar and Yogeshwar Dutt also inspired me and I grow up seeing them. I want to give credit to all these people and because of them I have won the bronze medal.”

The Haryana government has announced a government job and the reward of Rs. 2.5 crore to Sakshi Malik. Meanwhile, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar will  felicitate Sakshi Malik in a function, where around 30,000 people will be present. She will be handed over the cash amount of 2.5 crore rupees in the same function.
