HC reserved Arvind Kejriwal’s decision of Rs. 1 crore to Ex-service man Family

New Delhi: On Monday, Delhi High Court reserved the decision of Kejriwal’s Government of  giving ex-gratia of Rs. 1 Crore and a job to the next of kin of ex-service man Ram Kishan Grewal who committed suicide last week over the OROP.

Advocate Avadh kaushik filed a public interest litigation(PIL) against the AAP government’s decision. The PIL also opposed the move to declare Ram Kishan Grewal as a martyr. While hearing the litigation, on Monday, Delhi high court put stay on the decision on the AAP Government.

This is not first that Advocate kaushik challenged the decision of Kejriwal government to award to other suicide victims. Advocate Kaushik challenged the decision of AAP government on two earlier occasions.

The first PIL of Kaushik was related to the decision of Kejriwal government in 2015 to give the martyr status to Gajendra Singh Kalyanwat who was a farmer of Rajasthan and had hung himself at an AAP rally at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi.

The second PIL of Kaushik against the kejriwal government was regarding the decision of  AAP government to give a job on compassionate grounds to the brother of Rohith Vemula who was a Hyderabad University Dalit scholar and had also committed suicide in the month of January.
