Iranian cyclist Bahman Golbarnezhad killed at Rio Paralympic road race crash :- A tragic incident took place at the Rio Paralympics when the 48-year-old cyclist, Bahman Golbarnezhad died Following a crash in the men’s C4/C5 road race. According to the reports, Bahman sustained a heart attack after the accident.
The medical tried their best to give him the immediate treatment after the crash, but they failed and later, Bahman was declared dead.
The NPC of Iran has announced that their lone, cyclist at the Rio Paralympics died. They informed media wing that ” Regretfully, IR IRAN NPC announces that Mr. Bahman Golbarnez had passed away because of his accident during the competition.”
Meanwhile, the para-athlete’s family of Iran were gathered together in the athlete village and there the officials announced then. Bahman Golbarnezhad hails from the Shiraz, and he competed in the 2012 London Paralympics. Bahman 4th in the time-trial earlier on Wednesday.
According to the officials of the Paralympics, Bahman meet with the accident at 10:40 a.m. local time on a remote stretch of the road cycling course and it is the first death at the Paralympics.
The president of Rio 2016, Carlos Nuzman told media wing that ” Our hearts and prayers are with Bahman’s family, his team-mates and all the people of Iran.This is somber news for the sport and the Paralympic movement.”
