The encounter started between government forces and militants at Pulwama.Heavy firing started from both sides.
This is what exactly happened: Security forces launched a cordon as well as search operation in Batnoor village of Shopian district at around 3 am following information about the presence of militants in the area, a police officer said.
He said the exchange of fire started between the two sides at around 2.50 am to 3: 30 am and continued for almost half day.
Militants reportedly managed to escape from Cordon area of Bathnoor Lassipora village of District Pulwama. Forces lifted the cordon from the area as well as called off the operation- he added.
