The local police have also increased the security arrangements in the town as precautionary measures because the farmers had planned to celebrate the release.

CCTV cameras were also installed by the district administration at Raitha Bhavan in Navalgund, where the farmers held a programme soon after arrival.

The activists of various Dalit and pro-Kannada organisations welcomed the farmers when the farmers reached the Gadag.

They fired crackers and distributed sweets in the town. A bike rally was also held in the town. Dharwad Bar Association president V D Kamareddy and Dharwad High Court Bar Association president B D Hiremath have provided legal assistance to the farmers.

Many Congress leaders like minister H K Patil and State working President Dinesh Gundurao have visited Yamanur village and met the victim women who were beaten by the police last month.

District in-charge minister Vinay Kulkarni, distributing sweets to family members of the arrested farmers, assured that the cases against all farmers will be withdrawn, once the charge sheet is filed.

Mr. Gundurao said that farmers should maintain peace during their protest in the state. The government has been making all efforts to resolve the issue by seeking the intervention of PM and exploring legal options.
