9 of the 17 people who were the seat in the minivan were killed immediately. The injured were rushed to a hospital, where the conditions of 3 people are too critical.

The deadly mishap on national highway-24, in fact, took place as the driver had dozed off at the wheel around 6 a.m., a police officer told.

The Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has condoled the loss of lives. He ordered the district administration to make sure to give proper treatment to the injured, a government spokesman told IANS.

In the meantime, the police said that overspeeding can be the possible reason behind the mishap. Efforts were underway to identify the dead person, the police added.
