Rabindranath Tagore 75th death anniversary today 2016 : On 7th August marked the 75th death anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore , one of the greatest poet of this sub-continent.
It is believed that Rabindranath Tagore did not leave any human emotion untouched in his works, especially in his poems.
To observe the death anniversary of great bard Tagore, On Saturday, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) is holding a cultural program at the National Theatre Hall auditorium in Dhaka.
The Cultural Affairs Secretary Begum Akhtari Momtaz was the chief guest of the event.
The artistes of Bangladesh Academy of Fine Arts performed a dance-drama, ‘Swararitu’, directed by Farhana Chowdhury Baby.
The program had key guests like Binayak Sen – Research Director of Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies and Professor Dr Akhtar Kamal- professor of the Bangla Department of Dhaka University.
Various types of social and cultural organizations had also planned to mark the day.
On Friday a two-day international conference titled ‘Education Thoughts of Tagore’ began at Uttara Lotus Club in the capital.
Bengali Department of Jahangir Nagar University (JU), Uttara University and Rabindra Bharati University of India jointly organized the conference.
Rabindra Nath Tagore was born on 7th May, 1861. The Nobel Laureate Tagore composed more than 1,900 songs and left his mark on all the genres of Bangla literature. He died at the age of 80 in 1941.
