Rio Paralympics 2016: Powerlifter Farman Basha Misses Out On Bronze Medal

The Rio Paralympics is underway and it gave a lot of hope to the Indian even in the very first week. The Indian powerlifter, Farman Basha just missed a chance to win the bronze medal for India in weightlifting tournament.

The 42-year-old weightlifter, Farman Basha stood at 4th position at in the men’s 49 kg category at the Rio Paralympic Games. Basha raised the heartbeat of the billions of Indian of Indians when he gave them a hope of securing a medal by lifting the 140 kg in his first attempt.

But, he failed to make any attempt in the further attempts. Basha missed second and third attempts at 150 kg and 155 kg respectively and thus, he stood at 4th position and missed a chance to secure a bronze medal fo India.

Meanwhile,Cong van Le won the Gold medal by lifting the 181 kg, and he not only wins the gold medal but he also set a world record of set a World Record by lifting the weight of 181 Kg.

The silver medal is won by Omar Qorada of Jordan won the Silver medal and Hungary’s Nandor Tunkel won the Bronze medal.

Although, Farman Basha failed to win any medal but he won billions of heart in India. Meanwhile, India has sent total numbers of 19 athletes at Paralympics this year.
