Four militants and two army jawans on Sunday killed in a fierce encounter in Kulgam district of south Kashmir, the reporter said.
Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the Fiscal area of Kulgam district in the wee hours following information about the presence of a large number of militants in the area, a policeman said.He said the security forces closing in on the position of the militants, the ultras open firing resulted in injuries to five soldiers.
On Sunday, Military forces were involved in a gunfight with a group of militants holed up in a home in south-Kashmir, the policeman said. Television reports and locals said- two militants were killed and a soldier hurt but the policeman and army refused to confirm the above information.
The operations were still in progress as security forces almost suspect that some militants might have managed to escape to nearby areas but four weapons have been recovered from the scene of the gunbattle and security forces were trying to ascertain the identity and the most wanted group of the terrorists.Later, Police said they had information that militants were hiding in Nagbal Faisal area of J&K Kulgam district.
Two soldiers almost died to injuries before they could be taken for treatment, three jawans were airlifted to Army’s 92 base hospital and their condition was stated much stable.The encounter started after militants hiding in a house opened fire,” the police control room in Kulgam said. The gun battle was raging when the reports last came in.
