2 Union Minister unveiled the Life-size Statue of Missile Man APJ Abdul Kalam in Rameswaram :- On Wednesday Union Ministers Manohar Parrikar and Venkaiah Naidu unveiled the Life-size statue of the Missile Man APJ Abdul Kalam. They also laid the foundation stone for a national memorial dedicated to country’s former President APJ Abdul Kalam in Rameswaram,Tamil Nadu. India remembers the Missile Man on the first death anniversary.
The Defence Ministry and the Urban Development, Information & Broadcasting Ministry had planned a series of events to mark the death anniversary of Missile Man.
The event was attended by a host of dignitaries.
APJ abdul Kalam was the 11th President of India from 2002 – 2007. He spent four decades as a scientist at DRDO and ISRO. Kalam studied physics and aerospace engineering.
Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam was involved in military missile development efforts, thus he came to be known as Missile Man of India. He developed the ballistic missile and launch vehicle technology.
He was a recipient of Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honour.
APJ Abdul Kalam, 83 years old collapsed and died from a cardiac arrest on 27th July 2015, While delivering a lecture at the Indian Institute of Management Shillong.
