Suspicious bag outside Rashtrapati Bhavan, bomb-squad swings into action

On Sunday, Delhi Police increased the vigil around the Rashtrapati Bhavan and the adjoining areas after a High security alert was sounded following a suspicious bag outside the President’s house.

According to ANI news that an anonymous caller has alerted the Delhi Police about a suspicious bag lying outside the Gate No I of President’s house.

But, nothing has been found yet.

According to the sources that the authorities have deployed five fire tenders and a bomb squad at the spot. Currently, an extensive search operation is underway at the gate no. 1 of the complex.

On Sunday, The security forces are on high alert in the national capital on the eve of Independence Day. Around 45,000 personnel were deployed across the city.

Officials said that a ground-to-air security apparatus is in place around the 17th century Red Fort from where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation for a third time.

Police barriers the roads in Delhi to check motorists and vehicles.

Residential areas facing the Red Fort have also been sanitized. The Delhi police have checked hotels and guest houses in both Delhi and the nearyby areas.

The Mughal monument and areas within a five-kilometre radius is being covered by about 9,000 security personnel from Delhi Police, National Security Guard(NSG) and paramilitary forces.

On Monday means 15th August, VVIPs will attend the Red Fort event. They will include diplomats, military personnel and senior political figures besides thousands of civilians including school students.

The main event during the 70th Independence Day of India celebration on Monday will be held at the Red Fort.

Over 500 CCTVs have been installed in and around the Red Fort. High-resolution cameras have been mounted on the sprawling monument.
