And so it has demonstrated again, possibly understandably, as a country best appreciated for its volcanos and Vikings in Iceland has given the latest pitiful defeat.

As one English commentator said it at the end of the match, “anyone in the England camp this night correlated with that should hang his head in embarrassment. That was a mess. That was English”.
