Veteran Actor Om Puri insulted the martyrdom of soldiers

New Delhi:  After the Uri attack and many such attacks, the people of India raise voice to ban the Pakistani artists in Bollywood, but some people like Karan Johar, Salman Khan are in favour of Pakistani artists. A shocking one came from veteran actor Om Puri when he ended up insulting Indian martyrs while defending why art and such issues shouldn’t be mixed.

Actor Om Puri made the remark during a live debate at TV channel.

During the show, referring to Indian soldiers he aggressively said that we have not forced them to join army. He further said that prepare 15-20 people as suicide bomber and send them to Pakistan.

As soon as he said this, the people on social media started criticising him for his regressive thoughts and stringent approach towards the national concern of security.

Om Puri had said that banning the artistes will not change the situation. Art and politics should be kept separate. He also added that these actors are not brought to India illegally but with work visa so the producers should not suffer.

Om Puri is known for his impeccable acting skills. He has worked in various cross-border projects as well, the latest being ‘Actor in Law’, a Pakistani film starring Mehwish Hayat. Some people speculated that this is why he talked in favour of Pakistan actors.

Reacting on his approach actor Paresh Rawal tweeted that Never thought someone like Om Puri ji would make such a shameful comment. Sad. This is so heartbreaking.

#OmPuri started trending on twitter within few minutes of his comment with strong backlash coming from the Twitterati. However, Puri later said that the issue is not black and white, the government should do what they want and his only meaning was to stop demonising the Pakistani artistes till then.
