The Police team of Jehanabad district, Bihar have booked 8 unknown persons and detained a man post a video of a group of boys seen trying to strip a 14-year-old girl went viral on social media; officials stated the same on the last Monday.

Jehanabad’s superintendent of police Manish Kumar stated that he directed officials to lodge a first information report on Sunday morning post after he sees the viral video.

“The FIR has been lodged against eight unknown people, including the motorcycle owner, on the basis of the written statement of police inspector Shyamsundar Singh of the city police station. The accused are being searched on the basis of the video,” he added.

The video shows a group of around 7 boys, some of them on a motorcycle, trying to strip the 14 years old girl.

She is seen crying and begging with folded hands but the boys had been seen using abusive, bad and insulting language against her.

On the last Saturday, the reported incident occurred, near Bharthua village of Jehanabad district.

A police officer, who is part of the investigating team, stated that they noticed the video which goes viral late on the last Saturday night during a routine monitoring of the social media.

“We gathered the information about the incident on Sunday morning and identified the youths involved in the incident,” the police officer said.

“It was also noticed that a youth was making a video of the incident. At the place of occurrence, a motorcycle was also there. Police have identified the owner of the motorcycle. A youth has been detained in this case,” he added further.

It is the latest incident in a series of crimes which are taking place against women and girls reportedly, in the state.

The gender vulnerability index, released by the Union ministry of women and child development on 2017, declared Bihar as one of the most unsafe states for women with lowest access to education and protection in comparison with other states of India.

The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data of the year 2017 shows that 13,400 cases of crime against women took place in the Bihar.
