Brussels explosion: Bomb blast hits police building at city’s Institute of Criminology

Brussels: According to the Belgian media – A bomb has blasted at the Brussels Institute of Criminology, without causing casualties.

Officials says that Emergency services in Belgium are at the scene of a suspected bomb explosion at the National Institute for Criminalistics and Criminology (NICC) in Brussels. It is unclear if the blast is a terrorist attack.

The bomb blast happened on Monday. A loud explosion was heard at the complex in Neder-Over-Heembeek, which is located in the northern part of the City of Brussels. A fire broke out at the scene of bomb blast.

In the suspected bomb blast, there were no injuries. But, residents in the surrounding neighborhood being shaken by the bomb blast. Firefighters controlled over the fire. The affected area has been cordoned off.

As per the reports of RTL Belgium – a car rammed through three fences shortly before 02:30 local time (00:30 GMT).

It is unclear that who is the responsible for the blast. No terror outfits took the responsibility of the blast till now.

Earlier this year, Bomb attacks on Brussels airport and the city’s metro. ISIS took the responsibility for these attacks and killed 32 people in March in the blasts.
