In Jammu and Kashmir, Rajnath is estimated to take stock of the condition as well as meet some of the wounded militias at the hospital. Rajnath Singh shortly after his discussion with the PM and NSA, spoke to the Jammu and Kashmir governor Satyapal Malik on the subject of the attack.

Rajnath has also discussed the situation with Union Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba, who had just reached Thimpu in Bhutan and has now called him back to Delhi. A 12-member team of the National Investigative Agency (NIA), headed by an IG-rank officer is going to assist the J&K police in investigation and is going to the blast site in Pulwama. Rajnath also met Special DIB, IB director and NSA Ajit Doval.

Home minister Rajnath Singh said, “The attack was carried out by Pakistan-backed Jaish-e-Mohammed. A strong reply will be given and I assure the people of the country this. The country pays tribute to the brave jawans who were martyred”.

In the meantime, NSA Ajit Doval, who is thoroughly related with the surgical strikes, is observing the circumstances and is in touch with senior CRPF officers consulting him on the state of condition on a minute-to-minute basis.

Union finance minister Arun Jaitley took a marginally stronger tone in his tweet while promising an unforgettable lesson for the terrorists. He tweeted, “Attack on CRPF in #Pulwama, J&K is a cowardice & condemnable act of terrorists. Nation salutes martyred soldiers and we all stand united with families of martyrs. We pray for speedy recovery of the injured. Terrorists will be given unforgettable lesson for their heinous act”.

His thoughts were rebounded by MoS home, Kiren Rijiju, who mentioned to it as a “cowardly” terror attack and said that “it won’t go unpunished, we will avenge.”

The attack took place about 3pm when a Mahindra Scorpio, laden with approximately 250kg of explosives knocks against the bus of CRPF leaving 43 CRPF jawans dead.
