Chhattisgarh: 4 naxals killed in Police encounter in Dantewada District

On Wednesday, 4 Naxals, including a commander-rank woman cadre were gunned down. A jawan was injured in an encounter between security personnel and the naxals in Dantewada district, Chhattisgarh.

According to the Dantewada Superintendent of Police Kamlochan Kashyap that the encounter happened at early hours in the restive Dabba-Kunna hills when the joint team of STF, District Reserve Group and CRPF was out on an anti-Maoist operation.

The SP Kashyap said that While 4 cadres were killed, a jawan was also injured in the face-off.

He said that Based on a particular inputs, on Tuesday, the operation was launched by security forces to flush out the naxals hiding in the forests near Kunna and Dabba villages.

The two villages – Kunna and Dabba are located on top of a hill which lies along the Sukma and Dantewada districts border, around 500 km from the state capital Raipur.

The SP said that a group of armed Naxals opened reckless fire at the security personnel close to the Dabba village. After this, an encounter broke out between the two sides. In this encounter, 4 Naxals including a woman were killed. They were armed with country-made explosives and weapons.

SP Kashyap said that during a search operation, the dead bodies of the killed Maoists, a huge cache of Naxal-related items and at least seven firearms were recovered from the spot.

Adding that further details are awaited, he said that Reinforcement was rushed to the spot and efforts are on to evacuate the injured jawan.
