China says report on President Xi asking Pakistan to relocate LeT chief Hafiz Saeed shocking, baseless: On Thursday, China dismissed as “shocking” and “baseless” a media report that President Xi Jinping has asked Pakistan to explore ways to relocate JuD chief Hafiz Saeed to a West Asian nation, prior to the mounting international pressure in order to act against him for his links with the various terror groups.
Reportedly, a close aide of Pakistan Prime Minister told that the Xi made the suggestion to Shahid Khaqan Abbasi during their meeting on the sidelines of the Boao Forum in the last month, of April, in China.
The Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson, reacting to it, in the office on Thursday told the report that Xi has asked Abbasi to relocate the Pakistan-based Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) chief to a West Asian nation was “shocking and baseless”.
“It is shocking and baseless that’s all we can say,” the official told PTI, the famous media portal.
As per reports, Saeed is the mastermind behind in the Mumbai terror attack of 2008 in which 166 people, including six US nationals, were killed. He carries a $10 million American reward for his role in the terror activities anyway.
The JuD is said to be the front organization for the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) that is responsible for carrying out the Mumbai attack.
In June 2014, this was announced as a foreign terrorist organization by the US.
Reportedly, In 2012, the US Department of the Treasury designated Saeed as a specially designated global terrorist.
