Chinese Army spotted along Line of Control in POK

After frequent invasions in Ladakh area, Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) troops have been spotted along the Line of Control (LoC) on the Pakistan occupied Kashmir (POK) bells a high concern for the security agencies and personnels.

The Army has spotted attendance of senior PLA officers at the forward posts which is opposite to the Nowgam sector in North Kashmir after some interrupt of Pakistani army; officers suggested that the Chinese troops have come to create some infrastructure along the LoC, according to the sources said on Sunday.

Chinese Army spotted along Line of Control in POK

The PLA troops were first spotted in 2015 and ever since their attendance was witnessed opposite Tangdhar sector as well. In this region, Chinese government owned China Gezhouba Group Company Ltd. has been building a Jhelum-Neelum Hydel power project which will be of 970 MW capacities.

Though the Army has officially maintained complete silence over the whole issue, they have been continuously updating different intelligence agencies about the presence of PLA troops along the Line of Control, sources said.

However, the hydel project is being built in answer to India’s Kishanganga power project being built in Bandipore of North Kashmir. The Indian project is constructed so as to divert water from the Kishanganga River to a power plant in the Jhelum River basin and will have an established capacity of 330 MW. It was started in 2007 and expected the construction to be completed in this year.

According to the sources, Chinese PLA would be digging some tunnels in Leepa Valley located in POk to build all weather wearing road which can enroute to reach Karakoram Highway.

As the China-Pakistan-Economic Corridor (CPEC) project was given final shape, India protested against the attendance of Chinese troops in Gilgit and Baltistan, an area in PoK, and expressed the concern that it is unacceptable to India.

The visit by PLA officers is seen by experts as part of Beijing’s 46 billion dollar CPEC route under which Gwadar port in Karachi is linked to Chinese Xinjiang state through Karakoram highway, an area under illegal territory of China.

However, some of the experts in the nation’s security panel have been taking it seriously of the presence of PLA in closeness with Pakistani army officials. Chinese officials have maintained that CPEC was a financial package to link Asia with Eurasia.

We don’t know about what China is going to uplift three divisions of its PLA under a local name in PoK that will guard the Chinese interests in occupied Kashmir. According to the reports emerging from PoK were moving that PLA under a local name will establish a security wing in the PoK so that India can’t protest.

The new three divisions, around 30,000 men, will be deployed in and around the constructions built by the Chinese companies, the sources said, adding this way Beijing can also justify its presence along the LoC in northern part of Kashmir.
