Delhi AIIMS Fire Live Updates: Massive Fire breaks out at AIIMS hospital, Situation under control now: At August 17 evening a massive fire has broken out at the P.C. Block (second floor) of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. As per to the reports, the fire has reportedly broken out on the first to fifth floors of a building in the PC block of AIIMS Delhi.

The building is located in the teaching block of AIIMS, New Delhi that caught fire and is located near the emergency department.

Delhi Fire Service received the call around 4.50 p.m., after that in order to douse the flames, there are total number of 34 fire tenders who have reached the spot. The cause of the fire is not confirmed but some sources suggest short circuit caused the fire.

Rescue operation was started immediately as soon as the fire was reported. In the meantime, no one got injured and there is no casualties reported so far.

As a precautionary measure, the authorities at AIIMS have closed the emergency department.

The PC Block generally does not have patients but mainly it includes doctors’ rooms which is situated near the emergency block. Right now, the fire in the P.C. Block has been controlled and the cooling process is going underway.

Delhi Chief Arvind Kejriwal also tweeted regarding the concern, “The fire in AIIMS building will be brought under control at the earliest.

Fire service trying it’s best to extinguish the fire. I appeal to everyone to maintain calm and allow the fire services personnel to do their work (sic).”

Patients on the other hand who were admitted to the emergency ward have been immediately shifted in another place. As soon as the fire broke out in PC block near the emergency ward, patients were then shifted from AB ward (Orthopaedic Unit).

Former finance minister Arun Jaitley is also being admitted at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the cardio-neuro centre. However, this unit is accommodated in a total different building in the complex.

In the meantime, a doctor at AIIMS has shared a video on Twitter which shows AIIMS building on fire. One can see massive flames in the video along with dark plumes of smoke coming out from the building in AIIMS.

Now, the officials at the hospital are trying their best to immediately shift the patients while the Emergency Lab, the Superspeciality OPD ward as well as the AB1 ward have been shut down on temporary basis till the situation gets fully under control.
