A very awful and unexpected incident took place at Delhi Police headquarters at ITO, New Delhi. The incident happened at the Thursday morning on 29th November 2018 at 10 am when the police official jumped from the window of his office and died at the spot.
Delhi Police ACP jumps off 10th floor of headquarters, dies on spot
An assistant commissioner of police, 53-year-old, Prem Ballabh, has apparently committed suicide at Delhi Police headquarters at ITO, New Delhi by jumping off the 10th floor of the building.
The Police personnel’s positioned at the ground floor heard a loud smash and rushed to the spot and found his body crashed on the ground flood and badly injured. The ACP’s body was found on the porch of the headquarters, near its entrance gate. He seemed to be in bad condition and was rushed to a nearby hospital, but was declared dead by the doctor on his arrival.
The police believe that Prem Ballabh committed suicide but still the orders for further investigation has been given by the higher officials to enquiry about the occurrence and to examine whether it was a suicide or accident or any other angle.
According to the police officials, Prem Ballabh was posted in the crime and traffic unit of the Delhi Police and was also awarded by the Police Medal for his great service in the year 2016.
Prem Ballabh was basically from Almora district of Uttarakhand and he along with his wife and three sons stayed in Delhi’s Maujpur. He joined Delhi Police in 1986 as a head constable and was promoted to the rank of ACP after getting a Police Medal for his service in 2016. He has also worked as personal assistant to senior officers of Delhi Police.
According to his colleagues, from almost past eight years he was distressed and was also suffering from mental health problems. A few years back, because of the issue he also had applied for retirement from the service but his application for retirement was not considered and he was asked to continue with his service.
According to one of his closest friend as well as colleague from the department, said, that Prem Ballabh was suffering from depression, he was facing various mental problems because of which he started his treatment for depression at the Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital from the last 28 days.
Meanwhile, his wife and three children are in shock and couldn’t believe this unexpected happening. In addition, investigation is also going on to find out what actually happened at the time of the occurrence. Whether it is a suicide or an accident or may be something else.
As Prem Ballabh was also hospitalised for his depression treatment so for now, it seems through their initial investigation that this might be the reason for the death of the ACP but still it is not confirmed and the enquiry is going on.
