Recently, Dhoni was in the US where he was spotted playing Golf. On his return to Ranchi, Dhoni was seen spotted playing billiards at the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) stadium. Dhoni went over to the Rajbhawan in Ranchi to meet India’s President Ram Nath Kovind for dinner later on Sunday. Dhoni was accompanied by his wife Sakshi and daughter Ziva.

President Kovind is on a three-day visit to Jharkhand and is residing at the Rajbhawan where he was visited by the former India captain. President Kovind’s visit was scheduled to Gumla district earlier in the day but it got cancelled owing to heavy rain across the region which ultimately gave Dhoni a chance to meet up with him.

President Kovind had arrived in Ranchi on Saturday with wife Savita Kovind. The two were welcomed by Governor Droupadi Murmu, Chief Minister Raghubar Das, Ranchi Mayor Asha Lakra and senior officers at the Birsa Munda Airport in Ranchi.

Dhoni might be away from cricket, but he has kept his fans busy through several posts on his social media account. Dhoni recently shared a funny video from gully cricket – where one of his friends claimed that the ball which dismantled his stumps was a ‘try ball’.

Dhoni’s last appearance for the Indian team came against New Zealand in the semi-final of ICC World Cup 2019. Dhoni has been on leave since then. While he has initially requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for a two-month break, during which he also served the Parachute Regiment of the Indian army, he has now made himself unavailable for selection till November.

After the World Cup, Indian chief selector revealed that the team management now sees Rishabh Pant as India’s first-choice wicket-keeper across formats while Dhoni is expected to perform the role of a mentor to groom his successor. Pant has failed to make the best of chances which have come his way, which prompted the selectors to opine that they are also seeing the likes of Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson as back-up options for the under-fire Delhi gloveman.
