Dostana 2: Kartik Aaryan & Janhvi Kapoor Film’s Shooting Postponed Due To Delhi Air Pollution: There had been a lot of speculation about the star cast of Dostana 2, a sequel to the 2008 released film Dostana. Ending all the speculation, Karan Johar took to Twitter to announce that Kartik Aaryan and Janhvi Kapoor will be playing the lead roles in the upcoming film. While Janhvi was appreciated for her performance in Dhadak and is seen as a talent to watch out for, Kartik, after his recent spate of films, has emerged as a teen heart-throb. A male newcomer will also be joining the young stars in the movie, making it a trio for the new film. Dostana 2 will be helmed by first time director Collin Dcunha.

In an interview with Times of India, Karan confirmed that Kartik and Janhvi will be a part of Dostana 2. This will be the first time that the Luka Chuppi actor will be collaborating with Dharma Productions.

“I am excited to take the Dostana franchise forward with Kartik and Janhvi, and can’t wait to create some desi boy-girl madness with them. This is Dharma Productions’ (his banner) first film with Kartik and we are looking forward to working with him. We will also be introducing a new male lead, who will join the incredible talent at our production house. Collin D’Cunha also makes his directorial debut with Dostana 2,” the producer told the newspaper.
Collin also expressed his excitement over the announcement and tweeted, “Extremely thrilled to announce my first film #Dostana2 with the supremely talented @TheAaryanKartik, #Janhvi & a suitable boy who shall be revealed soon!”

This comes after Karan posted a cryptic tweet on his timeline on Wednesday. He shared a video that hinted at Dostana 2. He captioned the video, “Got a ring to it, doesn’t it? You know what it is! Stay tuned and watch this space – announcement coming your way tomorrow!” The background score of the video also sounded similar to Dostana‘s hit song Maa Da Laadla tune.

Before Kartik and Janhvi, a lot of other actors were rumoured to be in talks for the lead roles in Dostana 2, including Alia Bhatt, John Abraham, and Rajkummar Rao. However, in January this year, Karan Johar had rubbished the reports and clarified on Twitter saying, “No one has been officially approached for Dostana 2. Some thoughts and ideas are underway but nothing official has moved.”

Dostana was directed by Tarun Mansukhani. It was the story of two men – John and Abhishek – who pretend to be a gay couple in order to secure an apartment. Both fall in love with the same girl (played by Priyanka Chopra) and strive to win her heart, only to realize that she loves someone else.
Kartik Aaryan, Janhvi Kapoor & Lakshya to shoot at Patiala for a week
According to Mumbai Mirror, a source said that apart from poor visibility, the makers decided not to risk the health of the team and have pushed the Delhi schedule to a later date when the air quality improves. Kartik, Janhvi and Lakshya will be shooting in Chandigarh for a few more days, where they will be joined by the supporting cast. Later, they will move to Patiala for another week-long spell.
As per a Bollywood Hungama report, the abysmal pollution level in Delhi is the primary reason for canceling the film’s shoot. A source told Bollywood Hungama that the crew left Delhi as they were unable to shoot due to low visibility and after some members complained about breathing issues. “The cast and crew couldn’t breathe. Visibility was so low that the camera couldn’t capture the shots properly. It was a no-win situation. The team decided to disperse until the weather improves,” a source was quoted as saying.
