COVID-19 situation is quite serious now and the whole country is in lockdown position. The filmmakers are having a big loss and they have no other choice. Well, they could get the new release date after the lockdown but that won’t be going to help them because people aren’t going to gather to watch anything for this year until they get to feel safe again.
We all are in the social distancing thing and it is going to be our habit for long. We are humans and we are habitual. Also, we think that the lockdown won’t go down now and if it does then the cinema halls are going to be the last priority of the government and people now. So, the entertainment industry has to wait a bit and the sources are saying that the makers are going to release low budget movies on OTT platforms.
Amitabh Bachchan’s Jhund, an upcoming Hindi-language sports film based on the life of Vijay Barse, the founder of NGO Slum Soccer was about to release on theater but then it got delayed because of the Coronavirus. The movie was expected to release on 8 May 2020 in theaters. Now, the sources are saying that the movie could release on the OTT platform to avoid any kind of loss in the upcoming days.
Some sources are saying that Anurag Basu’s Ludo will also release on the OTT platform. Ludo is a Hindi language dark anthology comedy movie and the series I featuring Abhishek Bachchan in the main leading roles. The film was expected to release last year but then it got delayed for April 2020 and now it got delayed again because of the lockdown.
In the end, we are expecting to see these both movies in the OTT platforms and the name of the platforms haven’t decided yet. Akshay Kumar starrer Laxmi Bomb is set to release on Disney Plus which is being handled by Hotstar in India. So, we think that all other small movie makers will release content on OTT platforms for now.
