SRK criticized by Pakistan Army Major General over Netflix espionage drama Bard of Blood: Shah Rukh Khan shared the trailer of his upcoming Netflix espionage series Bard of Blood on Twitter. However, this didn’t go down well with Pakistan Army Major General Asif Ghafoor who slammed SRK for featuring in it and asked him to promote peace and speak against atrocities in Jammu and Kashmir.
On early Friday morning, Major General Asif Ghafoor retweeted Shah Rukh Khan’s tweet and tagged him along. Major General Ghafoor is the chief spokesperson of Pakistan’s armed forces and is the one responsible to defend the action of the Pakistani military whether wrong or right.
Stay in bollywood syndrome @iamsrk . For reality see RAW Spy Kulbhushan Jadev, Wing Comd Abhinandan & state of 27 Feb 2019.
You could rather promote peace & humanity by speaking against atrocities in IOJ&K and against Hindituva of Nazism obsessed RSS. https://t.co/0FWqoRQsO6— Asif Ghafoor (@peaceforchange) August 23, 2019
Major General Asif Ghafoor said in his tweet, “Stay in Bollywood syndrome @iamsrk. For reality see RAW Spy Kulbhushan Jadev, Wing Comd Abhinandan & state of 27 Feb 2019. You could rather promote peace & humanity by speaking against atrocities in IOJ&K and against Hindituva of Nazism obsessed RSS. (sic).”
Major General Asif Ghafoor’s attack on SRK comes at a time when relations between India and Pakistan have worsened. On Friday, it was also blacklisted by the Asia Pacific Group of FATF for its failure to act against terror-funding. Recently, Pakistan also suffered a major humiliation at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) at The Hague in the Kulbhushan Jadav case. Pakistan had been trying to convince the world that Kulbhushan Jadav was an Indian spy.
After a two-year-old legal battle, India won the case against Pakistan. India had argued that Kulbhushan Jadav was an Indian national who was abducted by Pakistan from Iran. The ICJ has ordered that Pakistan must provide diplomatic access to Kulbhushan Jadav.
This just vindicates what I have been saying for so long. Another week & yet another anti-Pakistan project. Now can we wake up, smell the coffee & see Bollywood’s agenda for what it is?@iamsrk Be patriotic, nobody is stopping you – just don’t do it at the expense of vilifying us. https://t.co/iCElRpJAa1

Netflix dropped the official trailer of Bard of Blood on August 22. The series is based on a book by Bilal Siddiqi by the same name. The trailer begins in Balochistan (a province in Pakistan), where Indian spies have been captured and are about to be decapitated before they could relay an important piece of information to India. Former spy Kabir Anand aka Adonis (played by Emraan Hashmi) is called by the PMO to go to Balochistan for this rescue mission along with Isha (Sobhita Dhulipala) and Veer (Vineet Kumar Singh). Kabir is an expelled spy, who is recalled from his new life as a Shakespeare professor in Mumbai to save his country. And what follows is a thrilling journey of these three spies on a rescue cum suicide mission.
Bard of Blood cast includes Emraan Hashmi, Vineet Kumar Singh, Sobhita Dhulipala, Kirti Kulhari, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Rajit Kapoor, amongst others. The series is created by Bilal Siddiqi and Gaurav Verma and is directed by Ribhu Dasgupta.
