According to a police statement on Sunday, a minor girl from Chelari in Kerala’s Malappuram was allegedly sexually abused by 30 persons. The 12-year old, Class 7 student’s father was allegedly involved in subjecting the minor to sexual abuse.
Father Sexually Abusing Teen Girl in Malappuram
After the incident came to light, the Tirurangadi police arrested the minor’s father and another man under various sections of the Protection of Children From Sexual Offences (PoCSO) Act on Sunday. Her statement was recorded before the magistrate. The minor was produced before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) in Malappuram and has been sent to a children’s home.
The police said, “The girl’s father has been arrested on charges of abetment to the crime and one more person accused have been charged with sexually abusing the child. Soon after, the school informed the police. The child has been now shifted to a child welfare shelter home.”
The teachers of the 12-year-old girl grew suspicious after they noticed that she had been missing classes and also appeared disturbed. The authorities of the school then contacted Childline and told them about the minor’s behaviour.
According to Childline authorities, the girl is the only child of the family which is staying in a rented house. Her father acted as the middleman for the customers, including his friends. She was forced to skip school many days due to the pressure by her father. She had been sexually abused since she was 10-years-old.
Meanwhile, further investigation is underway.
