Aadhaar App: Few things to know about government New App

Unique Identification Authority of India or UIDAI has recently updated its Aadhaar mobile app with new set of features aiming to enhance overall usability and security of the app and data. The new Aadhaar app is available on both Android and iOS and can be downloaded via respective app stores.

Government has launched new Aadhaar app

This new update enables all the Aadhar cardholders to access their Aadhar ID details on a single-window for all Aadhar related online services on their smartphones. UIDAI is claiming that the new app adds more functionality and is more secure than the older app, which now offers several new features to users such as the ability to download Aadhaar offline, eKYC authentication, pin lock, etc.

UIDAI, in a tweet, said, “Uninstall any previously installed versions of the mAadhaar app from your mobile. Download and install the New mAadhaar App.”

The major changes with the app are as mentioned below:

The latest version of mAadhaar app has two major sections — first is ‘Aadhaar Services Dashboard’ and the second section is ‘My Aadhaar Section’. While Aadhaar Service Dashboard is the compilation of all Aadhaar related online services , the My Aadhaar section serves as a personalised space for users and allows them to add profiles for any selected Aadhaar holder on the app.

mAadhaar users can easily download their Aadhaar card on their smartphones.

The user can also modify and update the Aadhaar details such as address etc. through the app.

The government is also encouraging the use of this digital mAadhaar app for availing all Aadhaar-based services. With the newly updated app, Aadhaar cardholders can easily lock or unlock their bio-metrics identification services at any time. Moreover, the app can also be used for getting the OTP directly from the app. However, the OTP will only be valid for 30 seconds.

Also, after the update, users can set a 4-digit pin code to the app to keep data and other Aadhaar related information secure.

The new mAadhar has features like sharing Aadhar details with the others. The new mAadhar app shares your Aadhar details through a QR code (virtual ID), which is generated for a limited time.

Users can also get a new Aadhar card directly from the app and check Aadhar authentication history. To get a new Aadhar card printed from the mAadhar app, under the ‘Order Aadhar Print’ option, one has to provide required Aadhar details for verification process and make a payment. The new Aadhar card will be delivered to the user’s address.

Aadhaar card holders now have the ability to setup up to 3 profiles with the same registered mobile number.

The mAadhaar app now lets users find the nearest Aadhaar enrollment centres by entering location details.

With the latest update the app now supports a total 13 different languages including English, Hindi, Bengali, Odia, Urdu, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Gujarati, Punjabi, Marathi, and Assamese.
