Fresh snowfall Begin in Kashmir: Kills Six, including 4 Army Men

Fresh snowfall has started in the Kashmir valley, and due to which at least six people died in separate snowfall-related incidents held in Kashmir. Two Army jawans were also killed in a road accident that was held in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir, as per to the officials statement on Thursday.

An Army official said, an Army vehicle met with an accident in Langate area of Kupwara on Wednesday night because of the poor visibility that was caused by heavy snowfall.

In addition to that, two army porters as well as two civilians were dead after getting trapped in snow in Kupwara district of Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

On Thursday, the scenic J&K and Ladakh were covered under a thick blanket of snow which further lead to cancellation and delay in flights.

In the region, this is the first snowfall after the beginning of winter. Due to the heavy snowfall, the Mughal Road in Rajouri was closed after a snowfall in higher reaches of the Pir Panjal mountains.

Due to the bad weather in Jammu and Kashmir as well as Ladakh, there are total of 11 flights of different private airlines travelling to Srinagar and Leh airports were cancelled on Friday.

Talking about fresh snowfall in other region of India, was also reported from Solang Nullah in Kullu district near Manali, Churdhar in Sirmaur district, Gulba, Koksar in Lahul as well as Spiti from Himachal Pradesh. Because of the heavy snowfall in Jalori Pass in Kullu, National Highway 305 was closed for travellers as well.
