The Income Tax Department has been carrying out searches at the Mumbai residence of Indian Actress Taapsee Pannu and the famous Indian director Anurag Kashyap who have directed many blockbuster movies including Gangs of Wasseypur. There are various raids that are going on at various locations in Pune and Mumbai by the IT Department. It is unclear whether the raid is taking place at their residence or other properties. But it has been said, that after the income tax department got the information from someone regarding tax evasion related to Phantom Films, and after that, the department conducted searches at 30 location in Pune and Mumbai including the residence and office of Taapsee Pannu and Anurag Kashyap.
IT Department Raids of Anurag Kashyap, Taapsee Pannu Home
As of now, the searches that are being conducted are related to Tax Evasion and are linked to Phantom Films’ office and the name of Anurag Kashyap and Taapsee Pannu are involved in the matter. Anurag Kashyap was earlier part of Phantom Films which has been dispersed in the year 2018. Madhu Matena who runs a talent agency company named Kwan which is one the leading talent management company is also involved in this matter.
Madhu Matena was once also part of Phantom Films and the IT Department are also searching his other properties including his residential house. The searches have been carried out by the income tax department this morning and are still going on and still, it is not clear from the sides of the IT department that why Taapsee Pannu is involved in this case. The searches are still being carried on and soon, the Income Tax Department will release their official statement regarding the matter.
However, many political leaders including the Minister of Maharashtra Nawab Malik, and RJD leader Tejaswi Yadav accused the Modi government saying that they are doing these raids on purpose because both Taapsee Pannu and Anuraj Kashyap have been vocal and opposed several policies of BJP. Taapsee Pannu once supported the recent Farmer protest and also raised her voice when Hollywood singer Rihanna was targeted because of a tweet in which she drew attention towards the farmer protest that has been taking place in India.
