The new edition of Indian Premier League is around the corner and the auction for the same is set to begin after a few hours. Yes! The highly awaited IPL 2021 auction is finally here and the event has been scheduled to take place on 18th February 2021, Thursday. The fans those are waiting for this event for quite long, your wait here is now finally over. The IPL 2021 auction event is planned to be held in Chennai on Thursday, starting at 3 PM IST.

As of now, there are combined 61 number of slots are left with all eight franchises. This time, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has listed a total number of 292 players to go under the hammer this time for the IPL 2021 auction event. The BCCI has also informed all the teams that this year in this upcoming auction, the teams have to use 75 per cent of their purse value. Around 1114 players had listed themselves for this year’s auction, but then later on the list has been cut down to under 300.

This year, the Kings XI Punjab have altered their name to Punjab Kings and the franchise are looking forward to making many changes particularly with lots of players to have a fresh start. It is to be noted that the IPL 2021 auction is not going to be a mega-auction; however, the mega auction has been scheduled to only taking place for the forthcoming IPL edition in the year 2022.

Date And Time for IPL 14 Auction (2021)

According to Indian Standard Timing, the IPL 14 Auction is going to take place on 18th February 2021, Thursday. Here is the timing for the same, based on different time standards:

  • In India, the Auction will begin at 3:00 PM IST
  • In Australia, the Auction will begin at 20:30 AEDT (08:30 PM IST)
  • In New Zealand, the Auction will begin at 22:30 NZDT (10:30 PM IST)
  • In the United States (USA), the Auction will begin at 04:30 AM EST

This is going to be the 14th edition of one of the most admired cricket tournament series in India as well as across the world. However, the official date to start this season of the IPL is not confirmed yet, but it will be announce any time soon. The new season of the league is going to be very interesting as Mumbai Indians are the two times defending champions, getting the back-to-back win in the 2019 and 2020 edition of the league. It will be interesting to watch whether Mumbai Indians will follow their winning streak in this season as well or another team will over them this time.
