Jawa Forty Two: Special Key Features, Price, Mileage & Review

Just after the launch of Royal Enfield Twins in India, Mahindra via Classic Legends signed a licensing agreement and unveiled the Jawa Motorcycle in India on 15th November 2018. The company introduced its two new motorcycles- Jawa and Jawa Forty Two. Jawa motorcycle had winded up its brand in 1996 and now has reintroduced in India after 22 years. The bikes would be sold under Mahindra owned ‘Classic Legend pvt Ltd’ which is the subsidiary of Mahindra group. Jawa Forty Two is priced at Rs 1.55 lakh at the entry level. So, here are 5 features of the bike that you need to know.

Jawa Forty Two Special Features

Body design and style

It has a classic design with brand’s signature traits. It has large fuel tank, round headlamp with chrome bezel, wide blacked out handlebar with bar-end mirrors, flat bench seat, and several blacked out panels. Jawa Forty Two comes in 6 different colour variants that are ‘Halley Teal, Galactic Green, Starlight Blue, Lumos Lime, Nebula Blue, and Comet Red’. On the styling side, the bike has classic gold pinstripes on the fuel tank and mudguard; chrome bits and the signature cigar-shaped twin chrome exhaust pipes.

Engine

Jawa Forty Two is powered by 293 cc single-cylinder liquid cooled DOHC motor tuned for 27 bhp and 28 Nm of peak torque. The engine has been developed from the ground up through collaboration between the group’s R&D centre in Pune and technical centre in Varese, Italy.  Single-channel ABS is also present as a standard fitment.

Dimensions and weight

The weight of the bike is around 170 kg with fuel tank up to 14-litres. Wheelbase of 1369 mm and the seat height of 765 mm

Features & Technology

It is loaded with latest and modern features like digital read-out for odometer, radiator, fuel injection and liquid cooling technology. It has standard features also which are Tail lamps, head lamps and a belly pan.

Wheel, Suspension and Brakes

Wheel – It has front 18-inch spoked wheels up in 90/90 section tyre and rear 17-inch with 120/80 section tyre.

Suspensions – telescopic hydraulic front forks and Gas Canister and – twin hydraulic shock absorbers at the back.

Brakes –    Front: 280 mm disc with floating caliper

Back: 153 mm drum brake assisted by single-channel ABS unit.
