Knife Attack In London Leaves 1 Woman Dead & Five Injured :- The police said on Thursday that a woman has died and five others were injured in a knife attack in a central part of London.
In a statement the London Metropolitan Police said that the attack happened late Wednesday in Russell Square. Russell Square is near the British Museum in London.
The police said that 6 people were treated at the scene and the woman died later.
The Metropolitan Police said that one man was arrested. A police officer had used a Taser stun gun.
Mark Rowley who is the Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner told reporters that the woman was in her 60s, but Rowley gave no other details.
He said that the attacker who has arrested by the police was 19 years old and in a hospital in police custody.
Rowley said that early signs suggest that mental health is a main factor in the knife attack case.
He said the investigation was at an initial stage. ‘Terrorism as a motivation’ was also a line of inquiry for police to unearth.
On Thursday, Mayor of London Sadiq Khan urged the people of London to remain calm and vigilant after the knife attack in a city centre of London.
Sadiq khan said in a statement that I urge all Londoners to remain calm and vigilant as police investigated possible terrorist links following the arrest of a 19-year-old man at the scene of the incident.
