Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020: Auction To Be Held in Kolkata on December 19

The 13th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) is round the corner and not like the previous year, the auction is all set to be held in Kolkata. There is going to be a mini auction which is going to be held ahead of IPL 2020.

The auction for IPL 2020 is going to be held on December 19 at the new location. At present, the trading window is open now and is going to close on November 14, as per to the ESPNCricinfo.

As per to the report, all the total of 8 franchises in IPL was informed about the closing date of the trading window. While on the other hand they were assigned Rs 82 crore each for the IPL 2019, along with that Rs 85 crore was also allocated for the 2020 season.

Not together from an added purse of Rs 3 crore, teams are also going to be allowed to use the money that was not spent for the duration of the earlier IPL auction.

On the other hand, Royal Challengers Bangalore have the least funds that are remaining from last season (Rs 1.8 crore) while Rajasthan Royals at the same time are at top the list with Rs 7.7 crore.

Furthermore, the trading window has seen some action with Delhi Capitals being the most active. The Shreyas Iyer-led franchise has also bought Mayank Markande from Mumbai Indians while on the other hand letting go of West Indies all-rounder Sherfane Rutherford.

Talking about the Delhi Capitals, they are also in talks with Kings XI Punjab in a bid in order to sign their captain R Ashwin. Ashwin, who was signed by Kings XI Punjab for Rs 7.6 crore which was held at the 2018 auction, led the franchise in total of 14 matches in this year’s IPL edition and have scalped total of 15 wickets.

Mentor Sourav Ganguly had also expressed his interest in signing R Ashwin but at the same time the financial negotiations are reportedly delaying the high-profile move. “We would be more than happy to have Ashwin if KXIP is ready to release him,” Ganguly had said in his statement.

In the meantime, Delhi Capitals were also in talks with Rajasthan Royals over signing Ajinkya Rahane for the next season of IPL in 2020.

  • Chennai Super Kings – Rs 3.2 crore
  • Delhi Capitals – Rs 7.7 crore
  • Kings XI Punjab – Rs 3.7 crore
  • Kolkata Knight Riders – Rs 6.05 crore
  • Mumbai Indians – Rs 3.55 crore
  • Rajasthan Royals – Rs 7.15 crore
  • Royal Challengers Bangalore – Rs 1.80 crore
  • Sunrisers Hyderabad – Rs 5.30 crore

 

The mega auction which has been set for the year 2021, all the total of 8 franchises are not going to shy away from signing horses-for-courses players in the forthcoming auction.
