This weekend in Kollywood high budget much awaited movie “Maari” is ready to release starring Dhanush and Kajal Agarwal in the lead role. The film received U Certificate from the CBFS which is directed by Balaji Mohan.

In the movie “Maari” Dhanush is essaying the role of a local goon who is honest and good at heart. The character he played overall very sweet. He will falls in love with Kajal Agarwal’s character who is a fine girl. Rest of the story is what happens with Dhanush’s character and his lady love’s character. Director of the movie Balaji Mohan speaks in regarding casting Dhanush as the leading man, “It has everything a Dhanush fan would look for in a film”.
The trailers show a dhoti-clad Dhanush, sporting dark glasses and with gold chains around his neck. With a cigarette dangling from his mouth and a mustache to twirl, the cool goon picture is complete.
A Dhanush fan himself, Mohan was smitten with films after watching Dhanush’s “Kadhal Kondein”, as a teenager.
With Maari, “it felt like a dream true for me,” said Mohan. His earlier films,”Kadhalil Soddhappuvadhu” “Yeppadi” and “Vaayai Moodi Pesavum”, fairly did well at the box office.
Dhanush plays Maari, a rowdy and a carefree soul, who is also a pigeon racer. “But this story is not about him as a pigeon racer,” said Mohan. “I have merely used that as a backdrop.” Kajal Aggarwal is paired opposite Dhanush. It’s her first film with the National Award winner.
Mohan said, “It’s a meaty role for Kajal and her character is integral to the progression of the story”. Regarding her character Kajal says, “My character, Shridevi is a fashion designer, who wants to open her own label”.
She added further, “She is a mature woman who is focused in her goals and not distracted by the trivialities of life”.
“I was looking for someone without a pre-conceived image and after couple of test shoots, I found Vijay apt”, Mohan added.“Maari is not a regular formula film. Viewers are bound to be surprised by its unpredictability”.
Produced by R. Sarathkumar, R.Radikaa Sarathkumar and Listin Stephen,Maari was shot in Chennai. Anirudh has scored the music. Cinematography is by Om Prakash.
“With Maari’s larger than life image that goes hand in hand with punch lines to send them in raptures, fans can look forward to a treat,” Mohan said.
The promotion of the movie goes very well and its first trailer received more than 3 Million views which are great for any regional film. Advance booking has been done in huge quantity which is already showing that the film will get a massive opening at the multiplexes even in the single screen as it is a regular Tamil cinema.
Although, latest released historical flick is going strong, this will give huge competition to “Maari”. Only the audience will decide the fate of Dhanush-Kajal starrer “Maari” which will hit theater this Friday on 17th July.
