Martyrdom Day Celebration

On Martyrs Day, the President of India together with the Vice President, the Prime Minister and the Defense Minister as well as the service Chiefs get together and put down flowers garland to the statue of the Martyrs. Martyrs Days in India

Martyrs Day in India is celebrated every year in India in order to give honour to those who sacrificed their lives in giving freedom to our country. These Days are:

January 30

Martyrs day is celebrated on 30th of January annually. This is the same day on which Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated back in 1948 during the evening prayers. He is considered one of the greatest freedom fighter of the India. Throughout his life span, he worked very hard in order to give freedom to our country from the British rule.

March 23

23rd of March is also acknowledged as the martyrs day in India in order to recall the sacrifice of Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru and Sukhdev Thapar. Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru and Sukhdev Thapar were one of the greatest freedom fighter of India who fought for India against the British rule and sacrificed their lives for independence.

July 13

In the region of Jammu & Kashmir 13th of July is also celebrated as the martyrs day in India. The day is observed in order to memorize the death of 22 people who were killed by the royal soldiers while representing adjacent to the Maharaja Hari Singh of the Kashmir in the year 1931.

November 17

In the Odisha region in India 17th of November is celebrated as the martyrs day in order to observe the death anniversary of the Lala Lajpat Rai. Lala Lajpat Rai who is also known as the “Lion of Punjab” was a leader and freedom fighter for the duration of the independence of India from the British rule.

November 19

In the state of Jhansi in India, 19th of November is also celebrated as the martyrs day. The day also mark the birth date of Rani Lakshmibai and the day is observed to pay honour to those who sacrificed their lives in the course of the revolt of the year 1857. Rani Lakshmibai was the leading figure of that revolt.
