Some of you may know that people have Kal Sarp dosh can get rid of it by praying snakes and it also brings good luck. You may believe it or not, but trust me a big majority of India believes it and their belief is strong. As per the Hindu religion, this is known to all that snake is connected to Lord Shiva and Vishnu. Thus, in order to please Gods people worship them. Also, the reports are coming that in this month snakes come out of their holes and people offer them milk and worship them in India.

According to the mythology, we can say that in order to kill Lord Krishna, Kansa sent Kaliya which was a snake. One day when Lord was playing with his friends, he went into the river and Kaliya attacked him. Krishna defeated him and thus, this festival also marks the victory of good over evil. You can say that the God kind of beat the snake and then the people started celebrating it.

Also, in this day people usually make it a point to give serpents made of silver, stone or wood or the painting of snakes a bath with milk and then decorate them for conducting the Puja. Also, the sources are saying that this festival is all about worshiping the God and people believe the buying snakes from snake charmer and then setting them free brings good luck.
