Telugu actor Nandamuri Harikrishna son of ex-AP CM, dies in road accident: Telugu Desam Party founder NT Rama Rao’s son and Tollywood Nandamuri Harikrishna (61) died in a road accident in Telangana’s Nalgonda district on Wednesday morning. Two others were also injured in the accident which occurred when the car in which they were travelling overturned near Anneparthi.

The accident took place around 6:30 am in Nalgonda, 100 km from Hyderabad. The actor-politician was driving his SUV, a Toyota Fortuner, at a high speed, to attend a wedding in Nellore when his car hit a divider and flipped, landing on its side. The police believe Mr Harikrishna was driving at a speed of up to 150 km per hour as he wanted to make it to the wedding by 9 am.

The SUV also hit another car, a Maruti Suzuki Dzire. Three others in the car with Mr Harikrishna survived with injuries.

“Harikrishna suffered severe head injuries. We also suspect internal bleeding. However, the exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained,” Duty Medical Officer of Kamineni Hospitals at Narkatpally, Ameer Khan told PTI.

The official said they are yet to get a clear picture of the accident.

Harikrishna was an actor and had acted in several Telugu movies. His sons, Kalyanram and Taraka Rama Rao, popularly known as Junior NTR, are also famous Telugu stars. Actor and politician N T Rama Rao served as chief minister of Andhra Pradesh for three terms. Harikrishna served as minister in Chandrababu Naidu’s cabinet in late 1990s.

In December 2014, Harikrishna’s son Janakiram also died in an accident near Nalgonda, not far from where Harikrishna met with the accident on Wednesday morning. Harikrishna is survived by his wife Lakshmi Harikrishna and sons N. T. Rama Rao Jr and Nandamuri Kalyan Ram.

Harikrishna was the fourth son of late legendary actor and political icon Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao.
