As announced by Yamaha, it will be aiming at premium motorcycles and scooters to further strengthen its position in the Indian market. The new MT-15 motorcycle had been launched by the company earlier this year. Now, it is expected that the brand could launch 3 new motorcycles and scooters in the country in the upcoming 2 years.

YAMAHA XSR 155

The Japanese brand has recently introduced the XSR 155 retro-styled motorcycle in some ASEAN markets. The model is said to be based on the same platform that also underpins the MT-15 naked streetfighter and the R15 V3.0. Both of these motorcycles are on sale in our market, and it is expected that this Cafe Racer could also arrive in India. The Yamaha XSR155 styling is inspired by the bigger XSR motorcycles including the XSR700 and the XSR900. Based on the Delta box frame, the new cafe racer is 805mm in width, 2000mm in length and 1,080mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 1,330mm. It is powered by the same 155cc, the liquid-cooled fuel-injected motor with VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) that powers the MT-15 and the R15 V3.0. Paired to a 6-speed gearbox, this engine produces 19.2bhp of power and 14.7Nm of torque.

Yamaha is likely to re-launch the R3 twin-cylinder fully-faired motorcycle in India in 2020. The company has recently unveiled the 2020 R3, which comes with aesthetic changes, while mechanics of the bike remains the same. The 2020 Yamaha R3 comes with 2 new colour schemes – icon blue and midnight black – bringing the new model closer to the 2020 Yamaha R1. Paired to a 6-speed gearbox, the powertrain is capable of producing 42PS of power and 29.6Nm of torque.
