No Stretcher in UP hospital man carries pregnant daughter-in-law in arms

Lucknow: An old man carried his pregnant daughter-in-law in his arms in Mirzapur city of Uttar Pradesh to the emergency ward of the district hospital in search of a stretcher.

Anshu Pandey, 25 years old, a resident of Gerua village in Lalganj tehsil, died after giving birth to a stillborn baby in a caesarean operation. The relatives of the deceased accused the doctors of showing negligence in duty.

Anshu was brought to the hospital of Mirzapur district by an ambulance on the night of 4th September 2016, Kapoorchand Pandey who is her father-in-law, alleged that no doctor attended to her for nearly five hours. Seeing her daughter-in-law in acute pain, he took her to a private doctor, but he also referred her back to the district hospital.

The authority of the hospital denied the allegations and saying that proper care was provided to the woman.

Chief Medical Superintendent – Dr. Sanjay Pandey said that no negligence was shown to the woman. We started treatment on 4th September though her condition was precarious. After a caesarean operation, she gave birth to a stillborn on 5th September.

He further added that when the condition of the patient deteriorated, she was referred to Varanasi hospital on 6th September where she died on 7th September.

He added that I have checked the records of her treatment and found nothing wrong in her reports.
