The Nokia’s deal to buy Alcatel-Lucent will be finalised in the first half of 2016 and is expected to result in 900 million euros of operating cost savings by the end of 2019. according to the deal, Nokia shareholders owning 66.5% of the telecom giant and Alcatel-Lucent investors holding the rest.

The combined company of Nokia and Alcatel-Lucent will have about 1,14,000 employees and combined sales are around 26 billion euros. In trading in Europe, Nokia share rose 3.1% while shares of Alcatel-Lucent fell 10.9%. Alcatel shareholders were disappointed because they hoped for a part-cash offer, while Nokia holders were relieved that the group had not overpaid, a trader said.
