Significance of the Day

The day rejoices the acceptance of the Pakistan resolution by the Muslim League at the Minar-e-Pakistan (lit. Pakistan Tower) that called for creating a self-governing alliance comprising provinces with Muslim majority situated in north-western and north-eastern province of British controlled regions in India (apart from independent princely States) on 23 March 1940.

The resolution which was passed on 23 March was signed by the Founding Fathers of Pakistan. It reads as:

[Quoting Resolution:] No constitutional plan would be workable or acceptable to the Muslims unless geographical contiguous units are demarcated into regions which should be so constituted with such territorial readjustments as may be necessary. That the areas in which the Muslims are numerically in majority as in the North-Western and Eastern zones of India should be grouped to constitute independent states in which the constituent units shall be autonomous and sovereign.

From that time the day is celebrated every year all over the country as a public holiday. The Armed forces of Pakistan commonly hold a military parade to celebrate the event.

  • 23rd March was the day when the struggles were streamlined.
There were no individual benefits, everyone was thinking on a broader prospect,
everyone was thinking for the Muslims of the sub-continent and for Pakistan.
There were no Sindhis, Balouchis, Pathans, Kashmiris,
Punjabis and Bengalis, they were all part of a great Muslime nation.
    But Today What we Are…..
    Think About it.“wish u a very happy 23rd march”
