Internet Service Providers (ISPs) are asked to block 857 porn websites based on a ruling passed by the Uttarakhand High Court. Under Information Technology Act 2000, section 79(3) (b), these porn websites are blocked as the content presented on these websites relay to morality and decorum as given in Article 19(2) of Constitution of India
India is not the only country who is trying to control the pornographic content by banning these porn websites, but also other countries are also making an effort to control the use of these porn websites. Recently, The Nepal Government has also banned adult websites in their country. Earlier this year, Uganda started its efforts to limit adult content to certain extent.

Basically, according to Indian High Court orders, 857 porn websites are asked to ban in India, but after the Ministry of Electronics and IT evaluate these websites, some of the sites have no pornography content in them. They evaluate approx. 30 websites who did comprise any pornographic content in them. After which the Ministry of Electronics and IT updated new list of 827 websites names to the Department of Telecom (DoT) in order to block them.
